The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father’s only Son. ~John 1:14
Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ~Philippians 2: 6-11
Salvation is to be found through him alone; in all the world there is no one else whom God has given who can save us. ~Acts 4:12
Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope. ~1 Peter 1:3
Consider:
The other day I was sitting in traffic in my minivan full of children focusing on all of the things I needed to get done for Easter. The list grew and grew and as I opened the notes app on my phone at a red light, I laughed to myself and thought, “I should just write Jesus because I desperately need Him.” It was an, “ah ha” moment for me creating this, “Easter To Do List” without including Jesus. How corny of me but what truth it spoke to my heart that He needed to be at the top of my list.
We focus a lot on Jesus and what he did for us this time of year, but do we focus on Him each and every day in the thick of life? When we wake up to another day with lists and chores and children to feed and jobs to do, are our eyes fixed on Jesus?
We all want to live a meaningful life, a life that makes a difference and a life filled with hope and peace and joy but are we willing to put in the effort and discipline it takes to have a healthy relationship with Jesus all year long? On days other than Sundays? At times other than Christmas and Easter?
Easter is a wonderful time for us to come together with friends and family to celebrate that Jesus is alive. It’s an amazing reminder to us of what He did for us because He loves us so much. We must start remembering though that the truth we celebrate this time of year is just as true today as it was yesterday and will be each and every day.
Before your feet hit the ground tomorrow, remind yourself that Jesus is alive, He’s living in you and He will live through you if you allow Him to. Open your Bible. Read about Him. Pray. Talk to Him. Make it your focus to know Jesus on a deeper level so that this time next year Easter is just another amazing day you get to celebrate your King.
Pray:
Lord, I just want to know you more and more, but life is distracting. I pray that I would make you a priority. I pray that I would spend more time with you and more time focused on your son. Thank you for loving me where I am and never giving up on me. Amen.
